FYCS coordinates the Finnish Youth Delegate Program. The Youth Delegates are nominated to represent their generation, to bring young people’s perspectives to the public debate and to influence policy making processes in Finland and internationally.
Delegates work together and with other young people, youth representatives and stakeholders on many different levels: nationally, in the Nordics, in Europe and globally.
There are two youth delegates for each theme or international organization. They often work in close collaboration with the Finnish government and other stakeholders and they have often attended international meetings (such as UNGA or COP) as members of the Finnish delegation.
FYCS nominates new delegates every year but for a two year term – that way, each one of them starts as a junior delegate and later becomes a senior who supports and mentors the new delegate.

UN Youth Delegates
Finland’s two youth delegates to the UN represent young people at the UN General Assembly and participate in information, advocacy and representation activities at home and abroad. We select the UN Youth Delegates in cooperation with the Finnish UN Association.

Youth Climate Delegates
The mission of the Youth Climate Delegates is to strengthen the participation of young people in climate policy-making, to promote the voice of young people in international and national arenas and to raise awareness of climate issues among young people. The Climate Delegate participates in the UN Climate Change Conference as part of the Finnish delegation.

EU Youth Delegates
EU Youth Delegates participate in EU youth conferences and other EU events, engage in dialogue with other young people and EU decision-makers, promote young people’s participation in EU decision-making and inform other young people about current EU events. We select the young people’s EU delegates in cooperation with the Young Europeans.

Unesco Youth Delegates
Unesco Youth Delegates participate in the Unesco General Assembly as part of the Finnish Delegation and in the Unesco Youth Forum, as well as in other Unesco-related preparations, especially in the fields of science and research, as far as possible. The Unesco Youth Delegate has also been an invited expert at meetings of the Finnish Unesco Commission.

Youth Nature Delegates
The role of the Youth Nature Delegates is to represent young people in the monitoring working group of the Finnish Biodiversity Strategy and to act as youth representatives at international nature meetings. In addition, the nature delegates raise young people’s awareness of biodiversity issues.

Youth delegates for working life
The role of a youth delegate for working life is to act as a voice for youth issues in Finland and as a youth representative at the ILO’s International Labour Conference. In addition, the delegate provides young people with information on decision-making in the field of working life.
